Term 1, Week 7: This week we began looking at metaphors here's one we wrote about our classroom: Room 10 is a question waiting to be answered. Next week we will write some about ourselves. We really enjoyed doing some experiments to do with floating and sinking with Mrs Hinton on Tuesday. On Thursday we had a great day with Mrs Smith. We were both excited and sad to finish our novel House of Robots, check out our reviews on Seesaw. On Friday we had our second session of Kiwi Sport Netball. Our Kiwi Can value this term is respect, on Friday we had to do some team graffiti before we then washed it off. On Wednesday and Thursday we learned about bike safety with Deb.
Term 1, Week 6: We've had a great week in Room 10 this week. We have been busy creating Pokemon and writing descriptions on them, we turned this into a class digital book that we shared in assembly. We had a great day doing some technology challenges on Thursday. We have been using our place value knowledge to solve addition problems this week. On Friday we had our first session of KiwiSport Netball, we had a lot of fun working on our balancing skills.
Term 1, Week 5: In Room 10 this week we loved watching Leafy go through the metamorphosis process and turn into a butterfly. We learned that he was a boy because he has two black spots on his bottom wings. We also loved looking at the ant farm in the library, we can't wait until next library time, hopefully they've made tunnels! For writing we have designed and written descriptions for our own Pokemon, we are going to turn it into a class book. Good luck to Chloe who is representing us at the Hadlow 2 Harbour this weekend!
Term 1, Week 4: This week was a great week in Room 10. Sadly our Triathlon was cancelled due to bad weather, but we are looking forward to the alternative event we are going to have later in the term. We've been busy doing our PAT and STAR Assessments this week. Miss Dunbar was really proud of our efforts. In Kiwi Can our value for the term is respect, we have been working hard on respecting our peers. For maths we have continued looking at place value, we are now able to read 4-digit numbers. During Play Based Learning this week there was some great construction happening and Harisona and Tyler could name lots of numbers and pictures on the dominoes. Kaylib wrote his very own song, check out Miss Dunbar and him playing it together below.
Term 1, Week 3: On Monday we had another great session of recorder with Mr Hogan, some children enjoy it so much that they have been practicing at home! On Tuesday Room 10 finally got to have Mrs Hinton (their Tuesday teacher) they had a great day with her. In maths this week we have been looking at place value, we now know how place value houses work. On Thursday we began our term Inquiry, looking at magnets. We came up with some great wonderings and we had a lot of fun seeing which classroom items were magnetic and which weren't. Next week we are looking forward to the triathlon on Tuesday.
Term 1, Week 2: We've had another great week in Room 10 this week. We have spent a lot of time this week learning about the Treaty of Waitangi and what pre-settled NZ was like. We have been busy working on our Self Collages for art, Miss Dunbar will have these displayed soon in the classroom. On Monday we loved our first recorder lesson with Mr Hogan. We learned the notes B, A & G and even manged to play Mary Had a Little Lamb (check out the video on Seesaw). On Friday we were excited to have our first Kiwi Can session.
Term 1, Week 1: We have had a wonderful start to the year in Room 10. Room 10 is made up of great 26 Year 3, 4 & 5 students! This week we have been getting to know each other, setting some goals for our own learning and we've had a couple of Play Based Learning sessions. We have also been working on some posters and artwork to put up on our walls. Parents check out your child's Seesaw for their highlights of this week!
These children learned how sound waves travel during Play Based Learning.
They could feel the sound vibrations traveling through the string.
